Job Description

Scope of Responsibility

Reporting to the Vice President of Sales & Marketing, the Sales Manager will identify, create and pursue new business opportunities, establish great relationships with clients and maintain customer loyalties in the hospitality industry. The ability to communicate, present and negotiate with all levels of management within a prospective company both over the phone, in person and by email is essential for success in this position.

Our Sales Manager role is critical to the ongoing success of our business. A professional new business developer with a passion to drive and produce top level results is who we’re looking for. The ideal candidate is also a proactive self-starter who can help promote our wonderful destinations and grow our market share.

The Sales Manager will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Pursue new business opportunities in various market segments such as corporate, group, entertainment, and sports for all of Prestige’s properties across BC
  • Conduct research on prospective new clients and markets to pursue, and follow-up with introductory phone calls and/or emails. Must be comfortable with cold-calling and doing in-person sales calls (according to COVID safety protocols)
  • Directly manage and maintain client accounts and relationships.
  • Issue annual negotiated rates to qualifying clients
  • Assist with RFPs, proposals and contracts to secure new business opportunities
  • Collaborate with the hotel General Managers to ensure cohesiveness with sales activities
  • At times, serve as the client contact for groups that you have booked in and assist the properties in managing group (special requests, deposits, rooming lists, & invoices)
  • Collaborate with convention managers at hotels when preparing proposals for new opportunities that require meeting space
  • Communicate customer requirements and information with the sales team and management
  • Research and analyze clients’ business objectives
  • Represent Prestige Hotels & Resorts at pertinent events to obtain leads and build new business relationships
  • Other sales activities as assigned

Required Experience & Assets

  • Minimum 2 years of sales experience, experience in hotel sales will be considered a strong asset
  • Negotiation capabilities coupled with the ability to apply influence to drive business results
  • Positive attitude and good communication skills specifically in regards to public speaking, presentation skills, and meeting with a group
  • Commitment to delivering a high level of customer service and a focus on customer loyalty
  • Willingness to travel to the various Prestige properties and feeder markets if required
  • Strong time management skills and ability to work well under pressure
  • Experience in developing and executing successful sales or business strategies

Considered advantageous:

  • Hospitality industry experience
  • A passion for sales and target-based performance
  • A diploma, degree, or equivalent experience in sales, tourism and hospitality, business development or other relevant business field
  • Computer efficient in all Microsoft Office applications and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems
